About Me

Alex McCollum is a student at Elon University double majoring in Cinema and Television Arts and Computer Science. Alex has had a passion for photography ever since he was a kid, taking photos on his mom’s camera and learning to edit them in Lightroom. Alex hopes to pursue a career in the film industry using the knowledge he gains from school.

This is a portrait I took of my friend Ethan Fader for my Creating Multimedia Content class. I would eventually like to do freelance headshots so this was good practice.

As spring washed over Elon University, I wanted to take photos of the blooming flowers, so I did exactly that. This photo is a perfect example of my attention to detail.

As my photography project in my Creating Multimedia Content class, I was tasked with taking a long exposure photo. I was presented with many problems and learned many new things before I eventually got this photo.

ChatUNI

I shot and color-graded this film as my final project for the FreshTV club. A student’s AI chatbot goes haywire and he is forced to manually respond to all the prompts.

Creating Multimedia Content

For my final project in my Creating Multimedia Content class, I had to make a promotional video about a topic of my choosing, following a very strict rubric. I made a documentary-style video with an interview starring my friend Henry Lee.

Life After Death

This was my submission to the 48-hour film festival hosted by the Cinelon Club at Elon University. A girl living her normal life finds out that she has been dead for a century.
